Frequently Asked Questions

What if I want to order a design from your catalog, but want to use a different typeface and ink color?

We can customize typefaces and ink colors at no extra charge. You can download lists of our available typefaces here (in PDF format):

There is no set palette of ink colors; we hand-mix each ink to order. If you are interested in a very specific color match, we can offer a machine-mixed Pantone ink at a cost of $30 per color.

How much does it cost for a custom design?

A custom design and illustration fee applies to all custom orders. This fee generally ranges between $75.00 and $250.00, depending on the complexity of the design. Printing costs are the same as comparable designs in our catalog; a custom design on 5" x 7" Lettra paper would have the same printing cost as our Dogwood design, and a custom tea-length invitation would cost the same as the Baby's Breath design. Extra charges may apply for certain design elements, such as bleeds (printing that extends to one or more edges of the paper) and oversize cards. Please contact us at custom@turnstonedesign.com if you would like a custom design quote.

I already have an invitation design - can you print it?

We are happy to print client-submitted designs, provided that the client either holds the design copyright or has obtained permission from the designer to have their artwork reproduced. If the artwork is meets the specifications for platemaking when it is submitted, there will be no extra charge for using the design; printing costs will be the same as a comparable design in our catalog, if one exists. If the artwork must be scanned or otherwise prepared for platemaking, Turnstone Design will perform these services at a rate of $60 per hour. All client-submitted artwork must be approved before an order is placed, in order to ensure that the design is suitable for the mechanical limitations of letterpress. Please contact us at custom@turnstonedesign.com if you would like to discuss submitting your own artwork.

What is the turnaround time for an invitation order?

Turnaround time for invitation orders is generally between four and eight weeks, and varies depending on the speed of the proofing process and our order volume. It is usually recommended that wedding invitations be sent out six to eight weeks before the event, so plan accordingly!

I'm in a hurry - do you accept rush orders?

If your invitation order requires a turnaround time of fewer than three weeks, a rush charge of at least 25% will apply, plus the actual cost of any necessary 2-day or overnight shipping.

What is the ordering process like?

After you place your order, we will ask you to submit your invitation wording, RSVP date and wording, return address, response address, and any additional enclosure card text. We are always happy to help you with invitation wording if you need it! Once your wording is submitted, we will post online proofs of each card and envelope, and you will have the opportunity to request changes to the wording, typefaces, colors, and other layout elements. Once you are satisfied with the online proofs, we will send you a flat-printed proof set for final approval. You will not be charged for changes made before production begins. After you approve the printed set and submit the final order balance, we will begin printing, and your invitations will usually be shipped within 2 - 4 weeks.

What is your refund policy?

Because every invitation set is a custom order, we do not accept returns or provide refunds. If we are responsible for any errors in printing, we will replace the incorrect pieces at no extra cost.
